FAQ
Asked & answered.
Everything clients ask before their first visit. Anything else — just put it in the notes of your quote request, or call.
How it works
How does mobile detailing work?
We bring everything — water treatment, power, lighting, equipment, and products — to your dock, garage, marina, or dry stack. You don't move the boat, trailer the car, or wait anywhere. Most clients aren't even home when we work; we coordinate access once and handle the rest.
Where is Zea Detailing located and what areas do you serve?
We're based in West Palm Beach (33415) and serve Palm Beach County and Broward County: Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, Dania Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Pompano Beach, Hillsboro Beach, Lighthouse Point, Deerfield Beach, Boca Raton, Highland Beach, Gulf Stream, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Manalapan, Ocean Ridge, Lantana, Lake Worth Beach, Singer Island, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, North Palm Beach, Jupiter, Tequesta, plus Wellington and West Broward for automotive work.
How much does it cost?
Boats are priced per linear foot: $10/ft for a fresh-water wash, $30/ft for a wash and wax, $20/ft topsides and $15/ft hull sides per step of gelcoat correction, and from $250/ft for a ceramic coating with the correction included. A 34-foot center console is $340 for a wash, $1,020 for a wash and wax, or about $2,380 for a two-step correction. Those are starting rates; condition decides the number of steps. The full rate card is on our pricing page.
Why is your ceramic coating more than a $70-per-foot quote?
Because that quote is usually the coating alone, applied over whatever is already on the hull. Ours includes the full decontamination and multi-stage correction underneath it. A coating bonds to the surface it cures on, so coating over oxidation seals the chalk in rather than protecting the gelcoat.
How fast will I get my quote?
Within one business day, by whatever method you prefer — call, text, or email. Requests with photos are usually answered fastest because there's nothing left to clarify.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — Zea Detailing is licensed, bonded and insured, including the coverage marinas and gated communities require. We provide certificates of insurance and complete vendor registration ourselves.
How long has Zea Detailing been in business?
Ten years. Ivan Zea has been detailing boats and cars professionally on this coast since 2016, and several current clients have been on his maintenance schedule for three or more seasons.
Scheduling & service
Do you offer recurring schedules?
Recurring maintenance is the core of our business — weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly washdown programs for boats, standing detail rotations for vehicles and collections. Same detailer, standing day, zero coordination needed from you.
Can you work with my captain, house manager, or estate staff?
Routinely. Much of our estate work is coordinated entirely through staff — scheduling, access, gate protocols, and reporting — without the owner ever needing to be involved.
Do you work in marinas and dry stacks?
Yes. We carry the insurance marinas require, coordinate with dockmasters directly, and regularly service boats in wet slips, dry stacks, and boatyards across 53 marinas from Lighthouse Point to Tequesta.
What are your hours?
Mon–Fri 8am–7pm, Sat 8am–5pm; closed sunday. Call or text (239) 451-0355 — early-morning and pre-tournament scheduling is available by arrangement.
The work itself
What does ceramic coating actually do?
It chemically bonds a hard, glass-like, hydrophobic layer to your gelcoat or paint. Salt, UV, waterline scum, and brake dust sit on the coating instead of etching the surface — so washes get faster, gloss lasts years, and the finish underneath stays protected. It is not a wax; it's a different category of protection.
What is gelcoat correction?
Machine compounding and polishing that removes the oxidized, chalky top layer of a fiberglass boat's gelcoat and restores its true color and gloss — without repainting. It's the fix for boats that have gone dull and white in the Florida sun.
My boat is heavily oxidized — is it too late?
Almost never. Heavy oxidation looks terminal, but most gelcoat has the depth for full restoration through multi-stage compounding. We assess first and tell you honestly what the surface will support.
What is paint correction on a car?
Controlled machine polishing of the clear coat that permanently removes swirl marks, light scratches, water spots, and holograms. Unlike a quick polish that fills defects for a few weeks, correction removes them — and it's the only right foundation for a ceramic coating.
Do you detail engine rooms?
Yes — it's one of our signature services. A spotless engine room makes leaks visible early, surveys smoother, and resale conversations shorter. The before/afters in our gallery show exactly what that looks like.
Will you work on rare or limited-production cars?
Yes, with the discipline they demand: conservative methods, test spots before machine work, measured passes, and documentation throughout. We're comfortable on seven-figure vehicles and insured accordingly.
